Fatima Syed

Fatima Syed is a Mississauga-based freelance journalist who reports on everything to do with politics, climate, race, and business. She describes her niche as “all things complicated and largely uncovered.” Her work has been published in National Observer, the Toronto Star, The Walrus, Chatelaine, The Narwhal and The Logic and has been recognized by the Digital Publishing Awards and the National Magazine Awards. She has contributed chapters to two anthologies published by Coach House Books: Subdivided: City-Building in an Age of Hyper-Diversity and House Divided. She is also the host of The Backbench, Canadaland’s new political podcast, and the vice-president of the Canadian Association of Journalists.
