Interview with Chief Dr. Robert Joseph and Karen Joseph

This article is the third in a series on Indigenous Communities and Philanthropy.

This short video documentary, produced by The Philanthropist in collaboration with The Circle on Philanthropy and Aboriginal Peoples in Canada, marks The Philanthropist’s very first recorded article. The video presents a conversation-style interview with Reconciliation Canada’s Ambassador Chief Dr. Robert Joseph and Executive Director Karen Joseph, led by Sarah Goodman, Founder and CEO of Treetop Strategy.

Together, Chief Joseph and Karen Joseph explore the birth of Reconciliation Canada – a new organization whose mission is to promote reconciliation by engaging Canadians from every part of society in open and honest dialogue and transformative experiences that revitalize relationships among Aboriginal peoples and all Canadians – and its relationship with The Truth and Reconciliation Commission. They also discuss the meaning of reconciliation while warmly and openheartedly speaking about their own growth and transformative personal experiences in the work of reconciliation.

They speak candidly about philanthropy, the role the philanthropic sector can play, and what meaningful dialogue can accomplish on the journey toward transforming Canada’s future.
